1. Zenna enjoys eating at sushi restaurants and sharing a plate of sashimi with her dad.
2. She spends a lot of her free time painting, drawing and writing stories.
3. Lately Zenna has been drawing her own comics.
4. Some of Zenna’s favorite movies are Pixar films,
Hayao Miyazaki films,
and a movie called The Secret of Kells.
5. Our family loves to read books together. One of Zenna’s recent favorites is A Wrinkle In Time.
6. Zenna loves to dress up and to use her imagination. She especially loves to act out bits from her favorite books and movies, and to make up new stories about those characters.
7. She has lived in three states: Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Utah.
8. Zenna enjoys music and has a lovely singing voice. This past Christmas, she sang a solo of Away In a Manger at church.
9. Zenna has always loved letters and numbers. By the time she was 18 months old, she could count to 12 (and to 20 with help), recite the alphabet, and recognize all of the capital letters by sight.
10. She’s less good at things that require physical coordination, but when she really wants to learn something, she has the patience to practice over and over until she gets it right.
11. Zenna is very kind and tender-hearted. She is careful not to hurt the feelings of her friends, and is sometimes surprised when they are less conscientious about her feelings.
12. She has a funny sense of humor and loves to tell jokes. She is like her dad in that she tends to make funny things even funnier than usual. Her mom calls her a “humor amplifier.”
13. Zenna enjoys swinging on her swing set, riding her bicycle, and playing on the monkey bars at the playground.
14. She wishes we lived close to ocean, so that she could take surfing lessons. She also wants to learn to scuba dive and to water ski.
15. Some places Zenna wishes she could visit include Hawaii, Tokyo, and Ireland.
16. Some places Zenna has actually visited include Gettysburg and Washington D.C.
17. Zenna loves to go to Lagoon Amusement Park and ride on all the craziest rides. She never gets sick, and she never gets scared.
18. Besides sushi restaurants, Zenna also enjoys going to Café Zupas and ordering cauliflower-cheese soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.
19. She prefers to eat her salads without any salad dressing, and would rather snack on lettuce than carrots.
20. Zenna does not like potatoes, not even French fries.
21. Zenna would love to learn how to play a variety of musical instruments—including the piano, the guitar, and the violin.
22. She is currently taking painting lessons from one of our neighbors.
23. Zenna is fun to give gifts to, because she is delighted with everything she receives.
24. A lot of people tell Zenna that she looks like Ramona Quimby—and they’re right! Fortunately, Ramona is one of her favorite characters, so it’s a good thing.
25. Zenna loves to visit her grandparents and to play with all her aunts, uncles and cousins.
